Appreciation Day Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 12:00 Noon
St. John's Episcopal Church, 158 West High Street, Somerville, New Jersey 08876, will be hosting an Appreciation Day for all First and Community Responders: Somerville Police Department, Somerville Fire Department, Somerville First Aid Squad, EMT and other groups.
We will begin with a service of prayer, special music and words of appreciation in the Church followed by a luncheon in the Parish Hall. Several local and county officials will offer a few words. Some other invited guests include: Somerset County Chosen Freeholders, Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, Somerset County Sheriff's Office, Somerset Pipe & Drums, Honor & Color Guard, Somerville Mayor, Somerville Borough Council, Religious leaders.
The purpose of the day is for there to be an opportunity for the aforementioned to be thanked for their faithful and heroic work that is carried out on a daily basis in the Borough of Somerville and surrounding areas. This service provides people of our community an opportunity to come together in prayer and fellowship and, while at the same time, to recognize and thank all First. and Community Responders, who dedicate their lives to serving the people of our local communities. The service honors all active, retired and deceased members from each group. Too often we take for granted the fact that these faithful souls are serving to protect us around the clock and many times under dangerous conditions. It is the right thing to gather together to demonstrate our appreciation and honor each one of them.
